Commons to debate offshore safety

Date Posted: 14/10/2009

A Westminster debate on health and safety in the North Sea oil and gas industry is to be held.

Aberdeen North MP Frank Doran is to lead the discussion in the House of Commons on Tuesday.

He said progress had been made since a major Health and Safety Executive (HSE) report on installation safety.

However Mr Doran said it was important to recognise more should be done to maintain standards. The HSE recently warned against complacency.

The North Sea helicopter crashes in February and April will be among the topics discussed.
